go with me, if you will, back in time. all the way back...to last weekend. after the midnight fireworks and casually drinking the greek version of a hot toddy (what was it called again e's?), we were going to meet up in loutra the next day at 14:00. we agreed to meet at the "super market", the one with the old lady. i arrived in loutra around 14:00 and went to the place. i had sat with this woman days earlier when i first arrived on kythnos. i have a soft spot for the old people, especially spunky ones who run their own super market. (i even teared up during "frost/nixon" yesterday on the plane...he was so old and lonely and everyone hated him...awww).

while sitting there trying to understand one another in her limited english and my very limited greek (like 3 words worth), a rockabilly looking guy and his tanya harding (but prettier) looking girlfriend stopped by and pulled up some chairs. they were from athens. while explaining each of our journeys that led us to be sitting there agistri island came up. i mentioned that i was still trying to find a way to squeeze it in. she said she owns a house there. (i know what some of you may be thinking, but i will keep you from guessing. i did not end up going to agistri and staying at her place) he said they actually met on that island years ago. (n i thought this story might add to the special nook agistri already holds in your little ol' heart)
he was on the island with a bunch of guy friends. they were all in the sea swimming when a huge black cloud covered the island. within seconds it was raining as if "someone had turned a huge shower on". it was also hailing. they swam for shore, he went for his old '52 motorcycle. it wouldn't start, caught in the rain his friends made a run for it leaving him to try and revive his bike. ten minutes later it worked, however, he soon realized that it didn't matter that his bike had started because he couldn't see 5 feet in front of him. he pulled over under a drooping tree for cover. through the thick rain he saw a wooden door, went to it, knocked. his future girlfriend of 6 years answered. the rest is history. awww...
they were very pleasant, helpful, and interesting. mrs. irini made them some coffee and her own cookies explaining that she would read their futures in the bottoms of the cups when they were finished (a greek tradition).

this is what was left. mrs. irini said"...i see...that you will have more coffee" and giggled. i hope i'm awesome when i'm old. haha.
about an hour had passed, my friends (filos in greek) were nowhere to be found, my greek phone was dead. i figured something had gone awry and that i would just embark upon the day and run into them back in merichas at some point.
i drove to kanala and driopidas aka doctor town. i found plenty of things in the towns and along the way...

and yes, more sheep.

believe it or not...this is part of driopidas, a main town.

i couldn't decide which i liked better in the frame...the church or the truck....

once i headed back to merichas for the night...i went to my 'usual' coffee spot and ran into ag and t...and eventually ev and el walked by. we had missed one another and all accurately assumed we would run into one another at some point later on. nice! we drank, sang, took poor timer pictures, and el found herself a microphone.

me, ag, el, and ev...ev2 joined us later.

we ended the night, after an almost alarming amount of shots sent over from the fellas at the bar, somewhat early (or i did) as i had scuba diving plans the next day and didn't want to inadvertently drown from exhaustion or left over drunkeness.
i am going to separate these entries and end this one now as to keep the epic lengths in check. right r? :)
