anyway, i hadn't thought to call anyone honestly. mostly because i had been around the island. my thoughts were that nothing would be done until the morning. i did end up trying to no avail. even calling greece's equivalent to 911. even they didn't know if kythnos had a 24 hour medical center. haha.
m volunteered to chat with me on the computer, keep me company, help keep my mind off my eye for a bit. then it became too much to stare at the screen that was seemingly shooting lasers at my eyeball. i was able to fall asleep after finding the perfect placement of face and eyemask. i woke up to a tear soken eyemask and made my one-eyed way to Hora, the only place with a medical center i was told. my eye felt a bit better if i had it covered. i took a picture cause...i knew it'd be funny soon enough.

i arrived at cafe anonymo and met a helpful waitress who told me the lowdown. there are only 3 doctors on the island. one is away on holiday. the other two live in driopidas (a town about 25 mins from Hora) without cars. haha. awesome. today is a holiday for them so it was especially great that they would meet me right away. the doctor said she thought it was an allergy (not an injury since she didn't see any scratches). i don't know if i agree, but it doesn't really matter because all i really wanted was the antibiotic drops and some pain meds.
with some slight relief i showed my eye to the scuba diving instructor and we agreed to try and do it monday instead. his face showed very clearly that i should not try today. haha. i still managed to have a good day so far getting to sit in the natural hot springs where they empty into the sea. i was amazed at how hot it really is. i thought perhaps it would help my toe, which i had forgotten to ask the doctor about because as the body is wonderful it kept me from feeling both pains at the same time...

i wanna know where my personal pat down dryer is...

yes, this place really does exist.
and here's proof.

you can all laugh now at the movie scene of my life that just ended. haha.
Poor eye and toe! It is the worst to feel like shit while not in your own bed / town / speaking the same language. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteSo what you're saying is basically you're gonna get an eyepatch AND a peg-leg? Is this whole Greek trip just an excuse to become an awesome pirate, or what?
ReplyDelete:( Being sick in another country sucks. I hope you're feeling better.
